Information for Groups & Tours

planVisit3There are several public tours available at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Listed below are a variety of ways to tour the museum's facilities.

Self-Guided Tours

The museum is laid out in chronological order, making it easy for visitors to tour the facility without a tour guide. Click here for a virtual tour of the museum to help you plan your visit.

The National Museum of the USAF provides a series of self-guided audio tours featuring specific topics in U.S. Air Force history as they are highlighted throughout the museum's exhibits.

USAF Heritage Tours

These free guided tours of the museum are open to the general public daily at 1:30 p.m., with an additional tour at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays. All tours begin at the entrance to the Early Years Gallery (through the Museum Store and turn right). Advance registration is not necessary.

Behind the Scenes Tours

In lieu of the Behind the Scenes Tours, the museum will offer "Amazing Makeovers: Aircraft Edition" from 1-3 p.m. every Friday from July 12-Aug. 30, 2013, as well as 1-3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, and Friday, Sept. 20, 2013. Visitors are invited to stop at the "Amazing Makeovers" stations in the main museum complex to see artifacts from past aircraft restoration projects and learn how the restoration team preserves the Air Force's proud legacy. Visitors may opt for a docent-led tour of these stations by assembling at 12:45 p.m. in Carney Auditorium. Registration is not required.

Presidential and R&D Galleries

ATTENTION: The Presidential and Research and Development Galleries will close until further notice beginning May 1, 2013, as part of budget reduction requirements due to sequestration.

The Presidential and Research & Development Galleries, located on the controlled-access portion of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, are accessible using the shuttle bus service from the main museum complex. This service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up early as buses fill up quickly! Motorcoach Visits

The National Museum of the United States Air Force is the world's largest and oldest military aviation museum, hosting more than 1 million visitors annually. The museum has appointed a Motorcoach Coordinator, who maintains a great working relationship between the museum and the motorcoach industry. For more information, please contact:

The Museum's Motorcoach Coordinator will be available to send museum information to you, work with you to schedule lunch at the café or a showing at the Air Force Museum Theatre, and they are more than happy to answer any questions you might have about your visit.
